Taylor Scott
Licensed General Contractor, owner
Taylor has been an integral part of construction sites since he graduated from high school—loving every minute it. Specializing in custom interior trim for the first half of his career, Taylor sharpened his attention to every detail. Then, as part of remodel and home-repair crews, he honed his general building skills, including custom cabinetry. Taylor even earned (and still maintains) his inspection license, deepening his knowledge of what it takes to complete every project the right way. With Metanoia Contracting, Taylor combines his meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail, and relationship-building proficiency to give clients an exceptional experience, no matter the home-improvement project size.
Metanoia Contracting allows Taylor to apply the breadth and depth of his experience—and provide the level of service and integrity customers deserve. The company was launched in partnership with Daniel Coutcher, owner of Landscape Solutions, and Metanoia Contracting will be partnering with Landscape Solutions to manage commercial and large-scope landscaping projects that require a licensed general contractor.
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. ~Colossians 3:23-24
The significance of Metanoia
Metanoia (μετάνοια) is a Greek word that means a change of course for the better—or, simply put, repentance. We don’t use that word much today, but think about a time when you’ve turned the wrong way down a one-way street: It’s wrong, you regret it, and you resolve to turn around to head the right way—and you do. This is metanoia.
This concept of repentance—specifically, spiritual repentance—is the foundation for the company name. See, for Taylor, his “metanoia” came after years of desperately pursuing fulfillment in the things of this world, only to find himself more lost and hurting at every turn. Although raised in a Christian home, Taylor did life his own way, with a prideful “I-got-this” attitude
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
~ Romans 2:4
Then, recognizing that his current path was leading to destruction, he hit rock bottom and was forced to look up at the only One who could rescue him. At that moment of true surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior Lord of his life, Taylor found new perspective and purpose. He recognizes that “God’s got this”—not him—and that the key to fulfillment and peace is the Prince of Peace Himself. Now, although life continues present challenges and roadblocks (as it does for us all), Taylor’s beautiful wife, Kelsey, and precious daughter, Maeve, motivate him to stay focused on walking with Jesus.
His love for Jesus also inspires Taylor to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17). So, although he is dedicated to satisfying every customer on every project, it’s the Lord He is really serving.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
~2 Peter 3:9
